As Temporary Works Design Engineer you will be responsible for all activities associated with the production of Temporary Works Design in compliance with the Business Management Systems (BMS) and CDM regulations, as part of a team providing design and design checking services for a full range of temporary works from excavations and working platforms to formwork, falsework & scaffolding. The services also include alternative solutions, value engineering, buildability and problem/defect resolution including specification compliance issues.

Responsibilities
 * Produce Temporary Works Design in compliance with BMS and CDM regulations as part of a design and design-checking team.
 * Develop design solutions for temporary works including excavations, working platforms, formwork, falsework and scaffolding; assess feasibility and buildability; identify alternative solutions and value engineering opportunities.
 * Address problem/defect resolution and ensure specification compliance across projects.
 * Collaborate with contractors, subcontractors, specialist suppliers or consultants as part of the design process.
 * Apply knowledge of structural mechanics and soil mechanics to temporary works design.
 * Work towards membership of relevant professional institutions (e.g. ICE, IStructE).
Qualifications
 * Civil or Structural Engineering Degree (2:2 or higher).
 * Working knowledge of relevant law and regulations, including The Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 and CDM 2015.
 * Good knowledge of structural mechanics and fundamentals of soil mechanics.
 * Previous design experience either with a contractor, subcontractor, specialist supplier or consultant.
 * Computer literacy with experience in computer-aided drafting and geotechnical/structural analysis software.
 * Willingness to work towards membership of a relevant professional institution (e.g. ICE, IStructE).
