Job Summary
The Deputy Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the overall operations of our horticultural and agricultural initiatives. This position involves overseeing daily activities, ensuring quality standards are met, and assisting in the management of staff. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in horticulture, landscaping, and agriculture, with hands-on experience in greenhouse management and outdoor work.
Responsibilities
* Assist in the management of daily operations within the greenhouse and outdoor environments.
* Supervise staff and provide training on best practices in irrigation, plant care, and landscaping techniques.
* Maintain accurate records related to plant growth, irrigation schedules, and maintenance tasks.
* Oversee the implementation of horticultural practices to ensure optimal plant health and productivity.
* Conduct regular inspections of plants and equipment to identify issues or areas for improvement.
* Collaborate with team members to plan and execute gardening projects, including planting, pruning, and harvesting.
* Utilize mechanical knowledge for the maintenance and repair of tools and equipment.
* Ensure compliance with safety regulations while performing heavy lifting and outdoor work.
Requirements
* Proven experience in horticulture or agriculture, with a focus on greenhouse operations or landscaping.
* Familiarity with irrigation systems and lawn care practices is essential.
* Strong mechanical knowledge related to hand tools and equipment used in gardening and farming.
* Ability to identify various plant species and understand their specific care requirements.
* Basic math skills for record keeping and inventory management.
* Physical capability to perform heavy lifting as required by the role.
