Job Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Finance and Payroll Assistant to support the financial and payroll operations of our organisation. This role is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in finance and payroll, looking to grow within a dynamic and supportive team.
Key Responsibilities:
Finance Duties:
* Assist with client account management and reconciliations
* Assist in preparing monthly management accounts
* Reconcile bank statements and maintain ledgers
* Support budgeting and forecasting activities
* Manage purchase orders and expense claims
* Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal controls
Payroll Duties:
* Process monthly payroll for all staff, including starters, leavers, and changes
* Calculate statutory payments (SSP, SMP, SPP, SAP)
* Verify tax codes and deductions (PAYE, NI, pensions)
* Liaise with HMRC and pension providers
* Maintain accurate payroll records and generate reports
* Respond to payroll queries from staff and external bodies
Required Qualifications & Skills:
* Experience in both finance and payroll functions
* Proficiency in accounting and payroll software (e.g., Xero, Sage)
* Strong Excel and IT skills
* Excellent attention to detail and time management
* Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
