Overview
Are you an experienced Trading Standards professional looking for a new challenge within a dynamic and supportive local authority? The Public Protection Partnership is seeking a Senior Trading Standards Officer to join our Public Protection Service, working with a team of dedicated professionals to ensure the highest standards of trading and consumer protection within our community.
Responsibilities
* Conduct inspections and investigations to ensure compliance with Trading Standards legislation.
* Advise businesses and consumers on their rights and responsibilities.
* Enforce legislation and take appropriate action against offenders.
* Collaborate with other regulatory agencies and enforcement bodies.
* Provide guidance and support to junior officers and apprentices.
* Prepare reports, evidence, and case files for legal proceedings.
* Line manage junior officers.
* Contribute to development and implementation of service improvements, policy initiatives, and consumer awareness campaigns.
Qualifications and Skills
* A relevant Trading Standards qualification (e.g., Diploma in Trading Standards).
* Extensive experience in a Trading Standards environment with knowledge of legislation and enforcement practices.
* Excellent investigative and analytical skills with the ability to gather and evaluate evidence.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills for engagement with stakeholders.
* Proactive and self-motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team.
* Leadership qualities with the ability to mentor and support junior colleagues.

Work location: Newbury, Wokingham, Bracknell or Theale (to be confirmed).
