Overview
Goodhood is expanding its London flagship with the launch of a café — a community-focused space designed to be a natural extension of the Goodhood brand. The café will serve high-quality sandwiches and salads, locally sourced pastries and cakes, and a carefully curated drinks offer, including specialty coffee, non-alcoholic options, and alcoholic beverage.
The Café General Manager will be responsible for leading all aspects of the café’s operations, culture, and guest experience. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who thrives in creative environments, understands modern hospitality, and is passionate about hospitality, culture, quality and community.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Service
* Oversee the day-to-day running of the café, ensuring smooth service across daytime and evening trading
* Maintain consistently high standards of hospitality, cleanliness, and presentation
* Manage opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and stock control
* Oversee alcohol service during licensed hours, ensuring full compliance with licensing laws
* Work closely with suppliers to source high-quality, local and sustainable products
* Recruit, train, and manage a motivated café team aligned with Goodhood’s values
* Create staff schedules that support business needs across extended summer and winter trading hours
* Lead by example on the floor, fostering a positive, inclusive, and professional team culture
* Conduct regular performance reviews and support team development
Guest Experience & Community
* Create a welcoming, relaxed environment for Goodhood customers and the local community
* Help shape the café as a social hub through regular events, collaborations, and music programming
* Build relationships with local creatives, brands, and suppliers
* Ensure the café experience feels distinctly “Goodhood” — cool, considered, and authentic
* Manage budgets, labour costs, and margins to ensure commercial success
* Monitor sales performance and identify opportunities to grow revenue
* Oversee ordering, stock rotation, waste reduction, and inventory management
* Report regularly on performance, challenges, and opportunities
Brand & Culture
* Ensure the café aligns visually, culturally, and operationally with the Goodhood brand
* Work collaboratively with the retail team to integrate the café seamlessly into the store experience
* Maintain high standards of music, atmosphere, and aesthetic throughout trading hours
About You
* Proven experience as a General Manager or senior manager in hospitality, café, or bar environments
* Strong leadership skills with a people-first approach
* Passion for quality food and drink, sustainability, and local sourcing
* Highly organised, detail-oriented, and commercially aware
* Comfortable working in a creative, fashion-led, and community-driven space
* Flexible to work weekends, evenings, and seasonal extended hours
