Senior Clinical Fellow in Trauma Orthopaedics
Applications are invited for a 12 month post as Clinical Fellow in Trauma and Orthopaedics in NHS Lanarkshire. The post is suitable for applicants at the level of ST3 (or equivalent) or above and is available from 5th August 2026.
NHS Lanarkshire Orthopaedics is a busy 3 site department with 22 consultants. This post includes both elective and trauma orthopaedics and will have ample opportunity for the successful applicant to gain vast skills and experience. We are a well-recognised department for training and very supportive at helping staff achieve career progression goals.
The successful applicant will participate on the middle tier rota including an 18 person rolling rota including daytime and weekend oncalls, and non resident nights. Clinical duties include:
* Trauma theatre and fracture clinic, with direct consultant supervision.
* Oncall (including overnight and weekends) involving assessment and decision making of patient referrals from our 3 Accident and Emergency Departments in Lanarkshire, as well as GP referrals.
* Attendance in elective orthopaedics clinic and elective theatres with direct consultant supervision.
The department has fantastic opportunities for the successful applicant to get involved in research, teaching and leadership roles. The department offers support and guidance for doctors wishing to achieve FRCS Tr & Ortho and CCT/CSR.
Both the North and South HSCPs have now been granted university status and have close links with Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU).
