Senior Manager – Compliance and Customer Safety

South Tyneside Council’s Housing Services are seeking an exceptional strategic leader to take on the role of Senior Manager – Compliance and Customer Safety. This is a pivotal position responsible for ensuring our homes are safe, compliant and aligned with the very latest legislation and best practice.
As our organisational lead for compliance, you will shape and direct the Council’s approach to building and customer safety across our housing portfolio. You will oversee key statutory compliance areas including asbestos, electrical, fire, gas, legionella, lifts and wider building safety standards.
You will lead the Compliance Team to deliver high-quality services, ensuring tenants remain safe in their homes while driving continual improvement, robust oversight and consistent performance. This includes responsibility for building safety case development, high-risk residential building compliance, implementation of the golden thread of information, and effective tenant engagement.
This is a senior leadership role requiring vision, innovation and the ability to navigate complex regulatory landscapes while delivering strong operational outcomes.
