Yard Supervisor – Shoring & Groundworks Equipment
We are looking for an experienced Yard Supervisor to manage the day-to-day operations at our busy shoring and temporary works equipment yard. The successful candidate must have prior experience in shoring or plant hire, and will play a vital role in ensuring efficient yard workflows, safe handling of equipment, and effective coordination between yard, transport, and site teams.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead daily yard operations related to shoring systems, groundworks support, and temporary works equipment.
* Supervise and support a team of yard operatives to ensure high productivity and compliance with safety standards.
* Oversee the preparation, dispatch, and return of shoring equipment, ensuring all items are inspected, cleaned, and documented.
* Maintain accurate records using hire or asset tracking systems (e.g. Syrinx, InspHire).
* Coordinate with the logistics team to schedule deliveries, collections, and internal transfers.
* Ensure the yard remains clean, organised, and compliant with H&S policies.
* Operate forklifts and lifting equipment as required, adhering to safety protocols.
* Conduct regular checks on plant and lifting gear to ensure all equipment is fit for hire.
Experience & Requirements
* Previous supervisory experience in a shoring, temporary works, or plant hire environment is essential.
* Strong understanding of materials handling, logistics coordination, and equipment maintenance.
* Experience using hire desk or warehouse systems to manage stock movements.
* Excellent communication and leadership skills with a hands-on, proactive approach.
* A valid forklift licence (telehandler or counterbalance) is required.
* Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling and working outdoors in all conditions.
