Heritage Project Officer
Three-year fixed-term contract.
Merton Heritage Service is seeking an enthusiastic Project Officer to develop the heritage component of “Merton United,” our borough’s Cultural Impact Award.
As Project Officer, you will supervise a team of volunteers and coordinate various activities, including community plaque schemes, heritage collection days, research, and designing town centre/public realm displays and web resources. You will develop partnerships with local shops, businesses, schools, community, and heritage organizations. Working alongside the Project Manager, you will support public events, exhibitions, and educational resources. You will also assist with commissioning work to highlight Merton’s multicultural heritage, along with budget monitoring, project reporting, and evaluation.
This role is ideal for candidates with experience in delivering projects and events on time and within budget. Excellent IT, communication, and organizational skills are essential. Experience in the UK heritage industry, community outreach, and collaborative projects is highly desirable.
