Role Overview

Responsibilities
* Supporting management and mentoring waste engineers within the team.
* Providing customer and project‑facing technical support and advice.
* Producing governance documents and technical reports to underpin waste strategies.
* Ensuring compliance with UK nuclear industry legislation and best practice.
* Driving continuous improvement in waste characterisation, processing, and transport.
Essential Experience
* Applied understanding of radioactive waste management, including characterisation, processing, sentencing, packaging and transport.
* Extensive knowledge of environmental legislation in the UK nuclear industry.
* Ability to determine and apply Best Available Techniques (BAT) with robust justification.
* High levels of numeracy and IT proficiency, including data interpretation and spreadsheet development.
* Excellent technical writing and communication skills for diverse audiences.
Qualifications
* Degree in a relevant subject.
* Extensive radioactive waste management qualifications and/or experience.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPPI) security clearance for this role.
