Role Summary
An exciting permanent job opportunity has arisen to join the Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD) specialist nursing team within the Exeter South West Peninsula ILD Service in the Royal Devon, Eastern Services, Department of Respiratory Medicine, for hours a week. The Exeter ILD Service provides a regional service covering the South West Peninsula (Devon, Cornwall and parts of Somerset and Dorset) in addition to supporting the local patients within the Eastern respiratory team at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.
We will consider dividing these hours between two members of staff.
About the Role
The successful candidate’s role will be to provide support and education for patients with interstitial lung disease (ILD) and their families/ carers. The post will enable you to work within the existing ILD service supporting patients during telephone, face to face clinics and hospital admissions. You will facilitate the planning and delivery of patient care to address their needs and ensure timely investigations, diagnosis and treatment. Antifibrotic medication prescription has increased through NICE guidelines and, much of the patient support will enable patients to manage side effects and ensure they have a safe treatment through blood monitoring and regular contact.
Responsibilities
* Provide support and education for patients with ILD and their families/careers.
* Work within existing ILD service during telephone, face‑to‑face clinics and hospital admissions.
* Facilitate planning and delivery of patient care, ensuring timely investigations, diagnosis and treatment.
* Support patients in managing side effects from antifibrotic medication and ensure safe treatment via blood monitoring and regular contact.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a special interest in ILD with a couple of years’ experience of working within respiratory medicine and/or related research. You will need to show in your job application how you meet the requirements of the person specification.
Working Pattern
Monday to Friday – (with flexibility, once experienced enough, for later hours finishing at : on a Wednesday to cover clinic)
