Overview
Moorfields Eye Hospital is a world-leading provider of eye health services in the UK and a centre of excellence for ophthalmic research and education. We are the oldest and one of the largest centres of ophthalmic treatment, teaching and research in the world. This role is part of Moorfields’ five-year strategy focused on innovation, advancing research, and transforming patient care, including our new centre for eyecare research and education in partnership with UCL Institute of Ophthalmology and Moorfields Eye Charity.
As a specialist ophthalmology provider, we have a multi-professional workforce. As Chief Nurse & Executive Director of Allied Health Professionals (CNO) you will lead our nursing and allied health professional workforce, fostering a culture of continuing professional development and improvement to empower staff to deliver excellent patient care.
Main duties
As overall lead for clinical governance and executive lead for the CQC Safe and Caring domains, you will work closely with the Chief Executive and board members to shape and develop the organisation and build strong relationships with current and future partners and stakeholders regionally, nationally and internationally. Moorfields consistently meets A&E and cancer targets and ranks among the top five nationally for RTT, with ambitions for ongoing transformation to deliver sustainable and scalable eye care.
You will have either Board-level leadership experience or be an experienced aspiring deputy chief nurse who can demonstrate a passion for healthcare and the opportunities and challenges facing Moorfields. Success in leading through periods of change while delivering sustainable organisational and cultural change is essential.
About us
We are facing NHS-wide challenges including rising demand, increased complexity of care, tighter finances, and staff pressures since the pandemic. You will authentically demonstrate our values of excellence, equity, and kindness, balancing staff wellbeing and accountability so that people remain proud to work at Moorfields. We are committed to diversity and welcome applicants from backgrounds underrepresented at Board level.
