Job Overview
The Town Council, serving the community of Ystradgynlais, is seeking a dedicated Town Clerk to support its governance and community development initiatives. The council comprises 16 elected councillors and manages an annual budget of approximately £500,000, representing around 6,500 residents.
Responsibilities
* Provide strategic and administrative leadership for the council.
* Advise the council on governance, legal, and procedural matters.
* Manage staff and oversee financial and operational functions.
* Represent the council in external discussions and partnerships.
* Support policy development and implementation.
* Attend evening and occasional weekend meetings.
Qualifications and Skills
* Experience in local government or similar complex environments.
* Understanding of local government law and procedures.
* Sound financial management skills.
* Proficiency in Office IT applications.
* Possession of or working towards a professional qualification such as the Certificate in Local Council Administration.
* Ability to communicate effectively, including Welsh language skills (desirable but not essential).
