Role Overview
We’re looking for a proactive and detail-oriented individual to support our Payroll Team Leader in ensuring all payroll tasks are completed accurately and on time. The role requires knowledge of PAYE, National Insurance, statutory payments and pensions. Must live within commute of Doncaster and be able to work Monday‑Friday, 9am – 5pm (or 8:30am – 16:30pm). Remote working is possible – three days in the office and two days working from home.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Support the Payroll Supervisor to ensure key tasks and deadlines are met.
* Share knowledge and experience with other team members, providing ongoing training and support.
* Act as the point of contact for queries and escalations from managers and employees.
* Review processes for efficiency and provide recommendations to improve ways of working.
* Process and finalise monthly payrolls in line with the payroll schedules.
* Maintain compliance and consistency at every step of the payroll cycle.
Requirements
* Strong communication (written and verbal) skills.
* Strong analytical skills and attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
* Time‑management skills with the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
* Self‑motivation and flexibility with strong organisational, planning, and administrative skills.
* Integrity and confidentiality.
* Two years payroll experience (ideally in a retail or manufacturing environment).
* Demonstrable experience of supporting new technologies and/or system changes.
* Computer literate, ideally with experience testing new functionality and training team members.
* Experience with MHR ITrent and Iris Cascade would be beneficial.
* Background checks: references & DBS checks.
