On behalf of an expanding accountancy practice, we are recruiting for an Accounts Senior to join the team at the firm’s Banbury office. This firm has a large agricultural client base, and while not essential, some experience within agricultural accounting would be highly beneficial.

As Accounts Senior, your responsibilities will include:
* Preparing client accounts and tax returns based on information supplied by clients, advising on tax payable and payment dates, meeting deadlines, and finalising paperwork for dispatch to clients and HMRC.
* Liaising with clients to obtain relevant information for their accounts.
* Working with Managers to develop knowledge of clients and their businesses, becoming their point of contact on day-to-day matters.
* Assisting Partners and Managers with tax planning for existing and potential clients.
* Supporting partners and managers with specific assignments such as business planning, advisory, and tax matters.
* Identifying business and personal tax planning opportunities and drawing them to the attention of partners/clients as appropriate.
* Monitoring own job quality and quantity in line with budgets, meeting and exceeding targets where possible.
* Recording own chargeable time to ensure maximum recovery.
* Supporting trainees through on-the-job coaching.
* Attending relevant courses to enhance job role skills.
* Using support networks like CCH or software vendors to clarify complex queries.
* Performing bookkeeping, ledger maintenance, supplier management, and management accounts when required.
* Preparing client tax returns, advising on tax payable and deadlines.
* Assisting clients with accounts software and bookkeeping queries.
* Participating in client seminars, including attendance and setup as required.
* Supporting the Partner and Manager in proactively promoting the firm in collaboration with the marketing department.
To be considered for this role, applicants will have the following skills, experience, and attributes:
* ACA or ACCA qualified (or exceptional finalist) with at least two years of practice experience.
* Experience in accounting for agricultural and rural businesses is advantageous.
* Ability to prepare client accounts, tax, PAYE, or VAT efficiently, with good tax knowledge.
* IT literate, with knowledge of cloud accounting software including Xero, CCH, and Sage.
* Excellent communication, listening, and problem-solving skills.
* Resilient, energetic, and analytical, with keen attention to detail.
* Highly organized and self-motivated.
