Competitive pay Roofer Apprenticeship Course Title: SVQ Roof Slating and Tiling at SCQF Level 6 Location: Coatbridge, North Lanarkshire Contract Type: Fixed Term Apprenticeship Salary: Offering the nationally agreed apprentice pay rates, plus excellent company benefits. (you will be paid for your normal working hours plus your attendance at college) To be successful with your application you must live in a North Lanarkshire postcode. Training Provider CITB – South Lanarkshire College Start Date – 3 August 2026 (Provisional) Course Length: The programme has an expected duration of approximately 2 years Entry Criteria for roles – No formal qualifications required / Pre-apprenticeship / Potential to work towards SVQ level 6 & 7. What does a role as a Roofer look like: As an apprentice roofer you will be involved in a variety of tasks to gain hands-on experience and develop your skills. As a Roofer you will learn how to perform routine maintenance and repairs on pitched and flat roofs, prepare surfaces, and installing new roofing systems to include installing underlay and battens to provide a secure base for tiles and slates. You will learn about health and safety guidelines, including working at heights and using appropriate safety equipment, will be crucial. This hands-on experience will help you develop a strong foundation in roofing techniques and prepare you for a successful career in the industry. The apprenticeship course will cover the following: - The principles of health, safety, and welfare. The different techniques and methods used to move, handle and store materials. How to interpret and use relevant product information and specifications. The standards and codes of practice that apply to roofing. Set up check and operate equipment. What do you need to be a successful applicant: - The potential to work at SCQF level 6/7 The ability and desire to learn and develop a thorough knowledge of the skills, technology and safety procedures required to carry out the full range of tasks Strong communication skills Ability to establish and maintain good customer/client relationships. Candidates will undertake a pre-employment assessment You must live within a North Lanarkshire postcode and be able to independently travel to and from the branch What will I learn through the apprenticeship programme? To drive a Mears vehicle, you must be aged over 21 have held your licence over 3 months and have less than 9 points.
