About the Role We are seeking a dedicated Payroll Specialist to oversee a diverse and complex payroll portfolio, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in all payroll operations. This role offers the flexibility of part-time or full-time employment, with the possibility to expand responsibilities to include invoicing and credit control. Key Responsibilities Payroll Processing: Manage 11 weekly and three 4-weekly payrolls, along with 45 monthly payrolls (35 without CIS and 10 with CIS), and 101 director-only monthly payrolls. Manual Data Entry: Oversee the manual entry of timesheets/clock cards for hourly-paid employees, with an openness to transitioning to more automated procedures, ensuring client compliance. CIS Returns: File monthly 12 CIS returns accurately and on time. Pension Scheme Administration: approximately 40 pension schemes, including NEST, NOW, and People’s Pension, ensuring compliance and accurate processing. Payroll Management: Oversee the largest payroll scheme comprising approximately 30 employees, varying up to around 35 with starters/leavers. Compliance & Reporting: Ensure adherence to HMRC regulations, including RTI submissions, and manage year-end processes such as P60s and P11Ds. Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in payroll operations. Team Collaboration: Work closely with HR and Finance departments to ensure seamless integration of payroll data and compliance with internal policies We are looking for an experienced individual who has completed the full end to end process within payroll working within an accountancy firm. Has experience working within a payroll bureau, with an appreciation of the demands of a highly time-sensitive workload. Possesses in-depth working knowledge of running end-to-end payroll on Sage 50 Payroll software. Has experience in pension scheme management and portal integration. Has CIS filing experience (preferred). Demonstrates strong attention to detail and organisational skills. Exhibits excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Is proactive in identifying and resolving payroll discrepancies. Is adaptable and open to process improvements and automation. Role Flexibility Part-Time: 30 hours per week, with flexible working hours to suit the employee, provided work is completed in a timely manner. Full-Time: Opportunity to expand the role. Office Based/ Further opportunity: Currently, our payroll processes are more geared up for office-based work. However, the new Payroll Manager will have the opportunity to adjust processes to facilitate effective remote working, drawing on their experience.
