About the Opportunity
A leading global financial services organisation (confidential) is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join its Legal & Compliance function on a 12‑month fixed term contract. This is a high‑impact role supporting the business through a broad range of contentious, regulatory, and employment‑related matters.
Working closely with senior stakeholders, you will help navigate complex disputes, advise on sensitive workforce issues, and support both internal and external investigations. This position offers the chance to operate as a trusted strategic advisor within a sophisticated, international business, translating legal risk into pragmatic, commercially focused solutions.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
* Lead and manage complex commercial disputes and contentious matters across multiple jurisdictions.
* Advise on employment‑related issues including restructurings, performance management, disciplinary matters, and terminations.
* Support internal and external investigations, ensuring robust process, governance, and documentation.
* Provide counsel on regulatory challenges and coordinate responses to regulators where required.
* Design and execute dispute‑resolution strategies aligned with commercial and operational objectives.
* Lead relationships with external counsel, ensuring quality and cost‑effective service delivery.
* Draft and review key documents, policies, and internal guidance relevant to litigation, investigations, and workforce matters.
* Partner with the business to embed best practice and enable informed risk‑based decision‑making.
About You
You will be a UK‑qualified solicitor (or equivalent) with 3 years + post‑qualification experience gained in-house, in private practice, or a mix of both. You’ll bring:
* Strong experience in disputes, litigation, investigations, and employment advisory work.
* A proactive, business‑minded approach with the ability to simplify complexity for senior stakeholders.
* Experience working in a regulated environment (insurance or financial services ideal but not essential).
* Confidence managing external counsel and driving matters forward independently.
* The ability to balance risk with commercial practicality, delivering clear, pragmatic advice.
