Learning Disability or Mental Health Nurse (Band 6) – join the Learning Disability Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (LD CAMHS) in Norfolk.
About the role
The position is 18.5 hours per week, covering Norfolk (including Kings Lynn, Great Yarmouth, and Norwich). The base is negotiable and flexible working, including agile/home working, is supported. It is a 12‑month secondment; please confirm line‑manager agreement before applying.
Responsibilities
* Provide safe, child‑centred, evidence‑based nursing care to children, young people, and their families.
* Assess needs, develop and review individualised care plans, and evaluate outcomes.
* Build effective therapeutic relationships using strong communication skills.
* Manage a caseload and maintain accurate, confidential records.
* Deliver individual and group interventions, including play‑based approaches.
* Apply sound clinical judgement supported by supervision and best practice.
* Use standardised assessment tools and adapt interventions to individual needs.
* Work collaboratively with colleagues and partner agencies, including safeguarding processes.
* Respect social and cultural diversity while prioritising safeguarding.
* Participate in case reviews, meetings, and conferences as required.
* Maintain professional development and stay up to date with policy and practice.
* Engage in supervision, peer support, and service‑related research.
* Contribute to service development, risk management, and data recording.
* Manage workload, lone working, and home visits effectively.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and agencies to deliver high‑quality care.
Qualifications & Experience
Experience working with children and young people with learning disabilities and/or mental health conditions is essential. A strong value base, commitment to collaborative and flexible care, and respect for diversity are mandatory.
