The Principal Product Consultant plays a pivotal role in leading and overseeing complex digital engagements from initial concept through to successful delivery. This experienced product and business consultant will shape product strategies, develop compelling business cases, and drive Agile transformation across large-scale programmes — all within a user-centred, outcome-driven environment.
As a senior leader, the Principal Product Consultant will also mentor and develop a small team of senior professionals, providing strategic direction and performance management while fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and assure major digital and business transformation engagements, ensuring delivery of high-value outcomes.
* Shape and define product strategies, roadmaps, and business cases aligned to client goals.
* Guide and mentor teams through Agile transformation journeys and user-centred design processes.
* Communicate confidently with C-level stakeholders, building trusted partnerships and raising awareness of modern product management practices.
* Facilitate workshops and discussions with diverse stakeholder groups, driving clarity and consensus.
* Translate business objectives into effective, measurable and commercially viable product requirements.
* Provide hands-on coaching, mentoring and performance management for senior team members.
* Maintain excellent commercial awareness, managing delivery within project and budgetary constraints.
* Adapt quickly to new business environments, technologies and methodologies to drive successful outcomes.
Essential Skills & Experience
* Extensive expertise in Product Management, with strong working knowledge of User Experience, Agile Delivery, and Programme Assurance.
* Deep experience across either Healthcare or Public Sector.
* Proven experience within at least two business application environments such as CRM or eCommerce.
* Demonstrated success engaging with C-suite stakeholders, building strong client relationships, and influencing strategic direction.
* Strong understanding of business and technology trends, with the ability to translate insight into action.
* Proven experience delivering within Agile teams.
* Skilled facilitator, adept at leading workshops and achieving alignment across multiple stakeholder groups.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
* Strong commercial awareness and understanding of project dynamics.
* Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in fast-paced, changing environments.
* Demonstrated commitment to developing others through coaching, mentoring and leadership.
Desirable Experience
* Experience working in a digital start-up or full-service digital agency environment.
* Background as a Product Manager, delivering high-quality digital products.
* Experience leading digital transformation initiatives across large organisations.
* Familiarity with multiple delivery methodologies and frameworks such as Scrum, Kanban, Waterfall, PRINCE2, or MSP.
* Certified Scrum Product Owner qualification.
* Active engagement in the wider digital or product community (e.g. speaking at conferences, contributing to online groups).
