Wood Digital Consulting (DC) is currently recruiting for a Senior Hardware Engineer with significant Automation and Control to support our UK projects. This position can be either contract or staff.
Whilst this role can be based anywhere in the UK, mobility and travel to customer sites and face to face meetings with colleagues will be expected as required.
Applicants must be able to pass HMG Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check.
The Senior Engineer will support the implementation of projects in line with company objectives including continuous improvement of margin, customer satisfaction, schedule, working capital and safety performance.
1. Provides expertise in at least one Automation Technical Area
2. Responsible for identifying / defining the Automation and Controls hardware requirements / solutions for the client
3. Implements the defined hardware Automation and Control solutions
4. Supports the Lead Engineer in accomplishing project objectives
5. Applies integration concepts to a wide variety of systems and across multiple vendor platforms
6. Engineers’ technical aspects of automation project design and / or implementation for assigned activities
7. Implements the hardware design activities for assigned activities
8. Prepares engineering studies, design drawings and material and equipment specifications
9. Resolves specialty related engineering issues by applying accepted principles, codes, and standards
10. Minimum BSc Degree or equivalent demonstratable experience
11. Significant experience and competency in Automation and Control Engineering
12. Good general knowledge of each Automation and Control engineering discipline
13. Experienced in writing hardware specification documents
14. Detailed experience with multiple system implementation project and / or control system platforms
15. Brownfield upgrades / replacement automation and control projects experience
16. Experience of the hardware specification and design of PLC systems and design of hardwired Safety Systems including control and marshalling panel designs.
17. Experience in creating hardware installation documents
18. Must have thorough knowledge of engineering practices, methodologies and economic principles, calculation methods, design details, international codes and standards, procedures, and specifications
19. Knowledge of modern automation and control applications, tools, methodologies, or equal training / experience
20. Good working knowledge of current industry specific technology
21. Inquisitive, well organised and have a keen eye for detail
22. Able to operate in an integrated team environment with a desire and ability to build trust and respect throughout the team
