Behaviour Support Assistant
Location: Northumberland
Start Date: ASAP / February start available
Contract: Full-time, Term Time Only
Pay: £88–£110 per day
GSL Education are working in partnership with a specialist provision in Northumberland to recruit a dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Support Assistant. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs in a structured, nurturing environment.
About the School
This specialist community provision supports pupils aged 4–16 with complex learning needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), communication difficulties, and associated social, emotional and behavioural needs.

The Role
As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to help pupils access learning and develop essential social and emotional skills. Support may be provided 1:1 or in small groups, both in and outside the classroom.
Key Responsibilities
* Supporting pupils with ASC and additional learning needs across KS1–KS4
* Providing 1:1 and small group support in lessons and interventions
* Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour using a trauma-informed approach
* Assisting with differentiated learning activities and practical tasks
* Working collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff and external professionals
* Promoting a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment
The Ideal Candidate
* Experience working with children or young people with SEND (ASC experience desirable)
* Calm, patient and resilient approach
* Strong communication and relationship-building skills
* A genuine passion for inclusive education and pupil wellbeing
* Relevant qualifications (TA, childcare, psychology or similar) desirable
* Willingness to support pupils’ independence and personal development
