We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Band 8a Senior Nurse for Infection Prevention and Control (IPC)) to join the IPC team. The IPC Senior Nurse will work in conjunction with staff across the UCLH sites to improve IPC practice and reduce hospital acquired infections.
The post holder will provide leadership, mentorship, and line management to members of the team as well as peer support to the other band 8A Senior Nurses within the team.
This post requires collaborative working with all healthcare personnel across the Trust. Overseeing the operational implementation of IPC practices across the trust. Working alongside the IPC Consultant Nurses, other Senior Nurses, IPC CNSs, Director of Infection Prevention & Control (DIPC) and the IPC Team, the post holder will shape IPC policy and guidance ensuring implementation into practice.
The IPC service includes the Trust wide management of isolation prioritisation to aid patient flow ensuring patient safety is maintained. Working alongside the coordination and operational services to review and advise on decontamination, building regulation compliance and the development of Trust wide education and audit programmes amongst others.
Main duties of the job
The post holder provides forward-thinking clinical and professional leadership to clinical staff at all levels, ensuring that infection prevention and control is delivered to a high standard and that the nursing resource is managed effectively. They will contribute to the ongoing implementation of the nursing and midwifery strategy, ensuring achievement of its objectives and proactively modernising nursing roles in accordance with the needs of patients.
They will ensure the patient experience in wards/ departments is of the highest possible standard at all times with particular emphasis on dignity and compassion. The post holder will take a lead role in partnership with the Consultant Nurse & Deputy DIPC, IPC Lead Nurse, Divisional Manager, Divisional Clinical Director, Clinical Leads and Service Managers in developing the IPC strategic direction and policy framework and overseeing the operational delivery of these. The Senior Nurse will ensure that the IPC contributes significantly to the achievement of corporate objectives.
