Senior Manager, AI & Analytics, RegTech Data and Innovation (RDI) Division, ARTIS, PRA
We are looking for a visionary Senior Manager, AI & Analytics to lead our high-impact team of Data Engineers, Data Scientists and UI specialists. In this role, you will shape how data, automation and AI are used across the PRA-bridging modern data foundations, cutting edge AI products and supervisory need, supporting the broader mission of the Bank/PRA.
You will lead a dual‑speed team: one building robust, scalable data platforms for SupTech capabilities, and the other pioneering innovative GenAI, LLM and predictive modelling solutions within Bank boundaries.
The AI & Analytics Team is a team within RDI's operating model, working collaborative with the wider division to accelerate data-driven innovation across the PRA. As Senior Manager, you will lead the technical, analytical, and engineering remit, developing modern data capabilities, enabling responsible AI adoption, and driving delivery of high‑impact analytics products.
This role blends hands‑on technical leadership with people leadership, execution oversight, and cross‑PRA engagement. You will shape how the PRA uses data, automation, AI, and analytical tooling to support supervision, policy, risk and operational excellence.
This role is part of the RDI leadership group. You need to work collaboratively across RDI, ARTIS, PRA and with wider Bank functions including DAT and Technology, to ensure data and technology tooling is managed responsibly, used effectively, and governed in line with Bank-wide policies, controls, and strategic objectives.
More broadly, as part of the wider ARTIS senior manager community the role holder will also champion the Bank's "Our Bank" culture - human, humble and in step with a changing world - while actively promoting an inclusive and supportive working environment. As part of this they will contribute to divisional leadership through cross ARTIS collaboration.
This is a people management role. You will be responsible for day to day management of the team and for defining roles and responsibilities. You will develop your team through sharing information effectively, coaching and communicating a clear vision to ensure that your staff are productive, engaged and motivated to deliver the area's aims. This will include setting clear goals and smart stretching objectives that are aligned to those of the team, division and directorate. You will also be responsible for managing all staff-related matters that may arise including performance, absence and sickness.
Number of direct reports: 3-5 and additional 10 indirect reports (team of 15)
Key Responsibilities
1. Technical Leadership & Delivery
* Provide senior technical leadership across innovation experiments, delivery sprints, proof‑of‑concept development and productionised data/analytical/AI products.
* Ensure best‑practice engineering standards across the divisions work, including setting standards and direction for code quality, testing, documentation, version control and reproducibility.
* Oversee the design, build and deployment of modern data pipelines and engineering frameworks (e.g., MLOps, DevOps, AI/ML engineering, cloud tooling); ensuring solutions and architecture align to the Bank's Technology Target Operating Model
* Lead the development and scaling of data science and LLM/GenAI capabilities, ensuring responsible AI principles are embedded (governance, explainability, auditability, safety).
2. Own, Develop & Implement Data Engineering and AI Capabilities
* Own the end‑to‑end lifecycle of data pipelines supporting PRA needs-from ingestion through transformation, orchestration, monitoring and optimisation.
* Develop AI and analytics components underpinning RegTech/SupTech use cases, including document intelligence, supervisory insight tools, retrieval‑augmented generation (RAG), forecasting models and agentic AI prototypes.
* Maintain technical roadmaps for AI, advanced analytics, and cloud‑based data tooling in collaboration with Technology and DAT.
3. Lead UI/UX Development for RegTech & SupTech Products
* Oversee the design and iteration of user‑centric interfaces for PRA analytics products, ensuring tools are intuitive, efficient and aligned with supervisory workflows.
* Ensure user‑research, prototyping and accessibility best practices are embedded nto product design with support from the Delivery and Governance team.
4. Cross PRA and Bank Technical Engagement
* Act as the primary technical contact for DAT, Technology and cross‑Bank initiatives related to AI, cloud platforms, data engineering and analytical tooling.
* Shape cross‑directorate alignment on cloud data tooling, model deployment, platform choices and coding standards.
* Represent the PRA in cross‑Bank communities (e.g., AI strategy, D&A strategy, Copilot/automation forums, AEH Board).
5. Ways of Working, Culture & Capability Building
* Foster modern, agile delivery practices across teams, including sprint rituals, backlog refinement, DevOps-enabled workflows, and iterative experimentation.
* Lead and promote multi‑site delivery models, establishing the structures, rituals and communication frameworks that enable teams across locations to work cohesively and efficiently.
* Drive training and capability uplift for data professionals to continually develop a high-performance culture
* Coach and develop a diverse technical team, cultivating a learning culture and supporting career progression.
* Oversea technical governance - including model governance, data governance, testing, documentation and security requirements.
* Partner with the Delivery & Governance Hub to assure compliance with PRA project controls, risk management, model risk and audit expectations.
* Champion Responsible AI practices across the PRA
7. Partnering & Stakeholder Engagement
* Engage senior stakeholders across supervision, policy, risk, and operations to identify and embed high‑value AI & analytics opportunities.
* Translate supervisory, policy and operational needs into clear technical requirements and delivery pathways.
* Communicate complex technical concepts in clear, accessible language for non‑technical audiences.
Role requirements
* Advanced technical expertise across data analytics, data science, ML/AI or data engineering and cloud technologies
* Proven leadership of multidisciplinary technical teams, with the ability to set strategy and technical direction, manage backlogs and roadmaps, and deliver clarity, pace and structure in ambiguous, fast‑moving environments.
* Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, able to translate complex technical concepts for senior non‑technical audiences, influence governance and strategic decisions, and build relationships across varied PRA/Bank communities.
Technical
* Strong expertise in data analytics, data science, machine learning, or data engineering, including experience with Python and/or R.
* Understanding of cloud technologies (Azure preferred), DevOps and MLOps practices, containerisation, and API‑driven architectures.
* Experience delivering production‑ready pipelines, ML systems, or AI‑enabled applications.
* Knowledge of LLMs, retrieval‑augmented generation, prompt engineering, and responsible AI principles.
Leadership & Delivery
* Proven experience leading multidisciplinary technical teams, setting technical direction, strategy and roadmaps
* Strong product sense with experience managing backlogs, roadmaps and stakeholder expectations.
* Ability to create clarity in ambiguous environments and drive delivery at pace.
* Commitment to Bank values including openness, integrity, diversity and continuous improvement.
* Skilled at building relationships across technical and non‑technical communities.
* Confident presenting complex ideas succinctly to senior leaders.

Salary and Benefits Information
We encourage flexible working, part time working and job share arrangements. Part time salary and benefits will be on a pro‑rated based as appropriate. This role offers a salary of circa £97,920 - £110,000. In addition, we also offer a comprehensive benefits package.
National Security Vetting Process
Employment in this role will be subject to the National Security Vetting clearance process (and typically can take between 6 to 12 weeks post offer) and the passing of additional Bank security checks in accordance with the Bank policy.
