NHS Wales Shared Services Procurement is an established Procurement Service assisting the Health Boards and Trusts across Wales to deliver patient‑centred services. We are an award‑winning service focusing on value, safety, excellence, innovation and quality.
Our aim is to have seamless procurement processes in place that release clinical time to focus on patient care and develop a value‑based procurement approach around patient outcomes.
Main Duties
Contributes to being the interface of Procurement between NWSSP Local Procurement and our customers and will assist in representing the function at various levels. Additionally, the post holder will inform on the status/priority of category work plans across the Trust. This will involve liaison with user departments and NWSSP at all levels to promote procurement input into partner organisations’ business plans at the earliest opportunity.

Pay
The Agenda for Change Pay Award for 2026/27 is effective from 1st April 2026. Successful applicants with a start date from 1st April onwards will receive a salary as per the 2026/27 pay award.
Qualifications – Essential Criteria
* Qualified to CIPS (Level 4)/NVQ2/3 or equivalent experience
* 5 GCSE’s grade C and above, including Maths & English or equivalent experience
* Knowledge of professional purchasing principles acquired through NVQ level 3 or Advanced Certificate in Procurement and Supply, plus knowledge of contract law acquired through short courses and experience
* Previous work experience in a contracting function: e.g. able to construct specifications, appraise suppliers, invite tenders & evaluate bids, terms and conditions of contract
Qualifications – Desirable Criteria
* Awareness of Business planning principles
* Working knowledge of quality systems and procedures including problem solving techniques
* Knowledge of best practice, benchmarking and performance measurement techniques
Experience – Essential Criteria
* Proven ability to establish and enhance effective working relationships with stakeholders

* Experience of managing staff
* Ability to analyse and interpret complex data sets

Skills and Attributes – Desirable Criteria
* Welsh Language Skills are desirable levels 1 to 5 in understanding, speaking, reading and writing in Welsh
