About the Role:
We are seeking an Independent Reviewing Officer and Child Protection Chair for a temporary contract within the West Midlands. This role involves travel throughout the County.
This is a dual role to chair Child Protection Conferences alongside chairing Child in Care reviews as a Independent Reviewing Officer.
You will;
1. Oversee care plans and ensure they’ are meeting the needs of children;
2. Chair Child in Care Review meetings and organise them in a child-friendly way.
3. Undertake visits to children and act as a first point of contact for children and advocate for their interests.
4. Ensure care plans are being fully implemented by local authorities.
5. Act as a consistent and trusted point of support in a child’s life.
6. Manage relationships between children, families, local authorities and the Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service (Cafcass).
7. Ensure local authorities are fulfilling their statutory obligations.
8. Provide guidance and support to social workers, families, placement providers and other external partners.
9. Follow formal escalation processes to raise concerns with senior managers.
What you need:
10. A degree in Social Work or equivalent
11. Registered with Social Care Wales/ Social Work England
12. Completed relevant post-qualifying training
13. Minimum 2 years experience as an IRO/CP Chair
14. Enhanced DBS check
15. Excellent communication and written skills
