Job Description
The Locum Probate Solicitor will be:
3. Managing probate files and administering estates (grants, full administration, estates with or without wills)
4. Advising executors or administrators on the probate process, estate administration, Inheritance Tax, and related matters
5. Reviewing wills, trusts, and inheritance documentation to ensure compliance and correct execution
6. Communicating with beneficiaries, executors, HMRC (for tax issues) and other stakeholders
7. Drafting legal documents including Grant applications, estate accounts, deeds of variation, letters of administration
8. Liaising with other departments (e.g. conveyancing, trusts) if necessary to support complex estates
9. Maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and firm standards
10. Providing clear, professional client communication and guidance throughout the probate process
The Successful Applicant
The Locum Probate Solicitor should be:
11. A qualified solicitor (or equivalent) with relevant probate experience
12. Experienced handling probate, estate administration, grants of probate/letters of administration, Inheritance Tax matters etc.
13. Available immediately for a 1-2 month locum assignment
14. Comfortable working part‑time (3-4 days/week) and able to work in a hybrid model
15. Organised, efficient and client‑focused, with strong communication skills
