Direct message the job poster from OW Ocean Winds Overview : Based in Edinburgh predominantly but with a need to travel domestically and internationally, the Senior Health & Safety Advisor will report to the OW UK Senior Health & Safety Manager. This role supports all aspects of Health & Safety across the Business Unit, covering projects in Development, Construction, and Operations & Maintenance phases. The Senior Advisor will drive excellence and continuous improvement in H&S performance and contribute to the achievement of Ocean Winds’ strategic objectives through proactive initiatives, guidance, and collaboration. This role supports all aspects of Health & Safety across the Business Unit, covering projects in Development, Construction, and Operations & Maintenance phases. Responsibilities : Provide H&S expertise to the business unit, and to projects in all lifecycle phases. Support the implementation of safety management systems in line with business unit requirements. Contribute to contractor pre-qualification and due diligence activities. Review of safe systems of work (internal and external) to ensure suitability and compliance. Participate in accident and incident investigations and assist in producing reports and recommendations. Support the delivery of effective H&S communication plans. Lead or contribute to H&S meetings and committees as delegated. Escalate H&S concerns to the management in a timely manner. Promote and support effective H&S risk management across all activities. Assist in the development, review and implementation of risk assessments & method statements. Support OW UK Health & Safety Senior Manager in initiatives, innovations, and special projects. Support the maintenance and improvement of the project H&S management systems including participating in inspections and audits. Monitor and support project compliance with relevant H&S legislation. Assist with the development and implementation of project specific H&S plans, targets and supporting documents. Carry out scheduled monitoring and assurance activities in line with the agreed plan. Support hazard identification processes, including risk registers, design reviews, workplace assessments, and incident observations. Support the implementation of H&S reporting, ensuring accurate data collection, and timely submission of reports. Assist with the analysis and evaluation of H&S information and performance data. Support learning and development programmes to improve H&S capability within the project. Promote understanding and fulfilment of H&S competency requirements of all staff. Provide advice and guidance to project teams on all H&S matters. Qualifications : Suitable qualification with demonstratable knowledge in Health and Safety. 5 years’ experience in an H&S role where an end-to-end experience of the project lifecycle would be beneficial. Required Skills : Strong working knowledge of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015. General knowledge areas: HS Management systems, permit to work systems, Marine practices, Accident and Incident Investigation techniques including Root Cause Analysis, Human Factors and Inherently Safe Design principals, Behavioural Safety, Risk Management, International Marine Legislation, Data management, analysis and reporting. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Project). Preferred Skills : The project has an international team of employees, and the working language is English. Candidates need to be fluent in English both spoken and written. Other language proficiencies are highly valued Location : Based in Edinburgh predominantly but with need to travel domestically and internationally as required.
