Job Summary
The Controls TFA IV, having completed level IV competencies, manages controls activities on site during the Installation & Commissioning and Maintenance of turbines (generator or mechanical drive). Responsible for reviewing plant engineering documents and P&ID's, troubleshooting plant systems and equipment, planning, organizing, integrating, and directing resources such as labor, tools, and materials to complete the work scope according to contractual requirements.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
* Actively manage controls activities on site during Installation & Commissioning and Maintenance of turbines, including oversight of installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and diagnostics on turbine and auxiliary systems.
* Plan, organize, integrate, and direct labor and tool and material allocation.
* Understand PLC ladder logic, including basic navigation through ladder rungs while troubleshooting.
* Read and interpret electrical/mechanical flow and instrument diagrams.
* Ensure correct installation, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and maintenance practices are followed.
* Provide general knowledge of turbine instrumentation calibration, including various types of transmitters.
* Provide technical expertise to customers, service support, field technicians, and operators.
* Provide timely and accurate internal and external reports.
* Ensure contractual obligations are met.
* Attend technical meetings with customers.
* Ensure all in-field activities are carried out safely, complying with company environmental, health, and safety (EHS) guidelines and procedures.
* Provide expert consultation on complex projects.
* Provide customers with technical direction and support on OEM packaged products.
* Overall responsibility for managing site activities, including planning, organizing, integrating, and directing resources to complete the work scope according to contractual requirements.
* Willingness to work holidays, weekends, and overtime as required.
* Travel extensively (internationally and domestically).
* May be assigned other duties to help proactively drive our FieldCore vision and align with organizational core values.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
* Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and/or 10 years of experience in power plant maintenance, turbine generator maintenance, or power plant equipment installation/commissioning without a formal degree.
* Successful completion of required level IV training programs.
* Experience with various turbine generator equipment and site responsibilities.
* English proficiency required.
Desired Characteristics:
* Senior level expertise, capable of acting as a senior representative on outages and mentoring on complex projects.
* Experience with Gas Turbine Driver Control Systems and Auxiliary Systems.
* Experience with MarkVI, Mark V, Mark V controls systems (preferable).
* Ability to understand and implement controls software.
* Creative and autonomous problem-solving skills.
* Strong organizational, analytic, and interpersonal skills.
* Proficiency with computers.
* Ability to work independently.
