Nottingham University Hospitals (NUH) is the biggest employer in Nottingham with over 19,000 staff. An experienced registered nurse is invited to apply for Band 6 Deputy Ward Manager on Fletcher Ward.
Fletcher Ward is a fast‑paced, JACIE accredited, 18‑bedded Bone Marrow Transplant Unit caring for a diverse group of patients with haematological conditions and malignancies. The unit delivers elective systemic anti‑cancer treatments (SACT), CAR‑T and acute/emergency care for patients from across Nottinghamshire and surrounding regions.
We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic and hard‑working individual with proven clinical and leadership/management skills to join our competent team in providing the highest standard of evidence‑based, holistic patient care.
Main duties
The successful candidate will act as the deputy to the ward manager, regularly taking charge of the ward and maintaining high standards of care, environment and quality. The role requires effective leadership, direct clinical care, support for implementation of clinical and non‑clinical governance, and flexible working as part of the ward team to ensure standards are maintained, evaluated and improved.

Training & Qualifications
* Current Level 1 NMC registration
* Basic IT skills
* IV trained
* Chemotherapy trained
* Cannulation and venepuncture
* Degree in health or nursing related studies
* Formal leadership and management training
* Evidence of LEO course
* Experience/understanding of governance within haematology
* Evidence of JACIE training
* Working towards venepuncture and cannulation competency
Experience
* Ability to manage a team efficiently and effectively
* Convey sensitive information empathetically to patients, relatives/carers and staff
* Completion of SSSA course
* Significant haematology experience
* Recent or current experience within the specialty
* Involvement in link nurse or project work
* Audit or research within the clinical area
* Providing staff with feedback on their individual performance and use of the knowledge and skills framework
* Completion of mentorship course
Communication and relationship
* Physically able to perform a full range of nursing duties
* Effective written and verbal communication skills
* Produce timely, accurate written/electronic records and documents
* Recognition of own level of competence and limitations, communicated to appropriate staff
