About the Role
The vacancy is for a Student Travel & Support Adviser to join the Student Travel & Support team based at the South Downs campus. The main purpose of the role is to administer the travel and support schemes – including the college’s childcare scheme and vulnerable bursary – and arrange all bus and train travel for financially supported students. The role is student‑facing and involves handling a variety of queries daily.
Applicants must demonstrate excellent customer service and organisational skills, and an outstanding service to all students. Understanding of the DFE and Free Student Meals funding guidelines is desirable to ensure all provision meets these guidelines.
Responsibilities
* Assist with the management and coordination of all aspects of the Travel & Support Scheme to meet the specific needs of all the College’s stakeholders.
* Process bus travel applications, ensuring all bus passes are ordered in a timely manner so they are ready when students start in September and periodically throughout the academic year.
* Assess and process applications for financial assistance, process refunds, and ensure these are logged on the Student Finance section of ProSolution.
* Process bus pass subsidy payments and ensure these are logged on the Student Finance section of ProSolution.
* Liaise with lecturers to provide lists of their financially assisted students, help pay towards the cost of trips/residentials and Free Student Meal money whilst on the trip.
* Manage the HSDC financial assistance childcare scheme including assessing eligibility, paying childcare provider invoices in a timely manner, and ensuring these are logged on the Student Finance section of ProSolution; plan and produce the yearly application forms and design childcare leaflets. Administer the Government childcare scheme “Care to Learn”, sending attendance data to Care to Learn.
Requirements
* Qualified to at least GCSE Level in English and Maths.
* A recognised finance qualification (e.g., AAT intermediate) at or above level 2.
* Customer Service Skills.
* Thorough and demonstrable understanding and knowledge of FE, including related legislation (Equality and Diversity, current knowledge and understanding of financial assistance and funding guidance).
* At least two years of proven experience in a busy administration role.
* Proven experience in the creation and use of Excel for data entry.
* Proven data entry experience.
* Knowledge of college IT systems.
