As a Senior Delivery Manager in Technology, you will be responsible for delivering high-value, complex initiatives across all areas of technology. You will work in collaboration with the business to understand their needs, drive results and deliver excellence. You will manage risks, issues and budget, and ensure that initiatives are delivered to schedule, budget, scope, and the highest quality standards. You will also work in a collaborative way with multiple third parties and matrix teams, and foster a culture of innovation, agility, and continuous improvement. This exciting role will initially be leading the tech delivery of a new commercial space planning system (Blue Yonder).
We’re looking for someone with experience of tech project delivery in the Retail industry (FTSE 250 retailer experience) as well as experience in managing continuous improvement backlog items which drive customer and colleague benefit. We are seeking someone with a track record of delivering complex changes to platforms and systems using both agile and waterfall delivery.
Role overview:
1. Take responsibility for the management of and successful execution of high-value Technology and Transformation initiatives up to £3m in value spanning across multiple business domains
2. Work in collaboration with initiative sponsors and key stakeholders within the business Stores team to ensure shared ownership for the delivery of outcomes in a customer centric way
3. Lead cross-functional change into the organisation through the application of best-in-class project, programme and change management
4. Own stakeholder relationships and engage the business more broadly with change communications
5. Manage high performing delivery teams, with good knowledge management, who work in collaboration with the business
6. Manage the performance of the internal and external suppliers as part of the delivery lifecycle
7. Establish and sustain an effective governance framework to ensure the appropriate level of oversight and control is in place across your initiatives
8. Take ownership for key deliverables across the delivery lifecycle and apply appropriate methodologies to support the achievement of wider aims and objectives :
Own and maintain the comprehensive plan, status updates, risk & issue logs using our PMO tool Planview Manage and communicate interdependencies clearly Own and maintain the initiative budget and forecast Update and maintain the governance and portfolio level reporting of your initiatives Manage schedule and resource dependencies
9. Co-ordinate the definition and delivery of detailed business requirements through collaboration with the business, IT and other 3rd parties
10. Ensure that realistic and accurate estimates of costs, timescales, quality and resource requirements are agreed and proactively manage any deviations through to initiative closure (utilising formal change control and impact assessments where required).
Required Experience:
11. 4+yrs project or programme management experience within the Retail industry
12. Experience of delivery in large complex organisations, such as FTSE250 companies or top tier professional services
13. Understanding of and or experience with Blue Yonder space planning systems desired
14. Strong commerce / Retail implementation experience beneficial
15. Knowledge and experience of relevant project management methodologies, development life cycles. Waterfall, Agile and Continuous Improvement
16. Expert knowledge of financial forecasting and budget management and control
17. Experience implementing projects utilising common enterprise-scale technology platforms such as Mulesoft, Oracle, Salesforce, and Microsoft Azure
18. Experience in managing 3rd party vendors and working with outsourced partners
19. Proven ability to communicate to stakeholders at the appropriate level and build effective working relationships (will often need to have technical discussions with product owners to articulate design solutions or reconfirm requirements)
20. High level of resilience and extremely strong organisational skills required to manage multiple teams
21. Willing to be flexible to meet tight deadlines
22. Dedicated and motivated individual with drive to succeed and deliver results
23. Self-starter willing to hit the ground running
24. Effective influencer and negotiator, able to operate well in both structured and unstructured environments
