The post holder is responsible for the provision of a high-quality neuro Occupational Therapy service, ensuring that the service delivered meets Trust and professional standards and develops in line with Government, Clinical, Professional, and local guidelines.
Work as part of multi-professional neuro rehab teams, in close collaboration with other relevant services/agencies e.g. acute rehabilitation units, community rehab teams, virtual wards, rapid response etc.
Manage caseload of patients within the ward setting and oversee caseload for rehabilitation assistants.
Carry out access and home visits to patients property following trust the lone working policy.
To manage and organise the team\'s caseload when the team lead is absent e.g. attending the MDT meeting, scheduling work for self and other team members, providing specialist advice to team members and external agencies.
Supervise junior members of staff, rehabilitation assistants and students on clinical placement.
Participate in and maintain own clinical professional development (CPD) by keeping abreast of any new developments e.g. active involvement in professional special interest groups and taking responsibility to incorporate into practice.
To actively contribute to team developments on a routine basis.
Although you will solely be based on Snowdon there is an opportunity to work across in Kite which is a Neuro Psychiatry rehab unit.
Main duties of the job
As a Senior OT you will ensure the maintenance of a high standard of care to working age adults with severe and enduring Neuro and mental health difficulties supporting the implementation of the Care Programme Approach and act as Lead Professional.
Provide occupational focused assessment, formulation, care plan, and intervention to patients with complex neurological needs e.g. functional assessments, neurological assessments, mobility, posture, wheelchair, seating assessments, continence, cognitive / mood assessments.
Evaluate Occupational Therapy interventions and consider ongoing needs of the patient and identify opportunities for longer term support when required.
To be professionally and legally accountable and responsible for all aspects of own work, including the management of patients in your care.
To ensure a high standard of clinical care for the patients.
Seek support and advice from more experienced colleagues when faced with matters outside of sphere of responsibility, knowledge or skills.
Plan, develop and implement rehabilitation programmes with patients and carers through education and teaching which encourage and empower patients and their carers to reach an optimum level of self-management.
Carry out safe moving and handling practice, for moderately to severely dependent patients within a hospital or community setting. Instruct/demonstrate techniques/equipment to patients, carers and ward staff on a daily basis.
Analyse and evaluate patient progress as required.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Degree level or higher in Occupational Therapy.
* Health and Care Professions Council registration.
* Training qualification or relevant experience to teach students on placement.
* Specialist post graduate training in a range of subjects relevant to challenging behaviours
