Senior Orthopaedic Occupational Therapist
Job Summary: An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic Orthopaedic Therapy team at Great Western Hospital. This is a chance to make a real impact in patient care while developing your professional skills in a supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide therapy to orthopaedic patients across Elective and Trauma wards.
* Deliver specialist care to patients with major trauma, spinal injuries, and head injuries.
* Supervise and mentor Band 5 staff, Rehabilitation Assistants, and students.
* Contribute to service development and improvement projects.
* Manage a complex clinical caseload using an interdisciplinary, patient‑focused rehabilitative approach.
* Communicate and develop strong networks with interdisciplinary team members, carers, and external agencies.
* Identify service development needs and implement planning, development, and evaluation of the service.
* Stand in for the Team Leader in their absence if required.
* Participate in the orthopaedic weekend rota.

Person Specification
Education
* Diploma / Degree in Occupational Therapy
* Registered with the Health Professions Council
Essential Experience
* Experience working in orthopaedics.
* Broad clinical experience in a variety of settings.
* Up‑to‑date evidence‑based clinical knowledge.
Desirable Experience
* Experience working with children and/or adults in acute hospital services.
* Experience of changing or developing a service.
* Experience supervising junior staff, assistants, or students.
