About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented EHCP Writer to join our team and support the creation and review of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
This role is critical in ensuring that EHCPs are clear, person-centred, legally compliant, and reflect the needs, aspirations, and outcomes for the child or young person.
Key Responsibilities
Draft high-quality EHCPs in line with the SEND Code of Practice and local authority guidance.
Translate professional reports and multi-agency contributions into clear and coherent EHCP sections.
Ensure all EHCPs are legally compliant and meet statutory requirements.
Work collaboratively with SEN officers, educational psychologists, health and social care professionals, schools, and families.
Review and update existing EHCPs as needed, incorporating updated assessments and feedback.
Manage deadlines efficiently to ensure timely completion of plans.Essential Requirements
Proven experience writing or reviewing EHCPs.
Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and relevant legislation (Children and Families Act 2014).
Excellent written communication and editing skills.
Ability to understand and synthesise complex information from a range of sources.
Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Able to work independently and manage competing priorities.Desirable
Background in education, SEN, social work, or allied health professions.
Experience working within or alongside a local authority SEND team.
