Overview
Fixed term contract/secondment opportunity until 31/03/2026. We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Clinical Psychologist to join our Paediatric psychology team to support young people and their families with acute and long-term health conditions. Based in the Paediatric Department at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, the team currently includes Clinical Psychologists working across Diabetes, NICU, Epilepsy, Rheumatology, Gastroenterology and Childhood Obesity, with ambition to expand.
The post will involve work within several paediatric specialties, including paediatric epilepsy. Although this is a band 8A post, there is openness to newly qualified psychologists at band 7, and newly qualified staff not yet HCPC registered may be appointed temporarily at Band 6. Experience in paediatrics is desirable but not essential; a passion for working with children, young people and their families is essential.
Responsibilities
Main duties of the job include working with children, young people and their families on psychological issues related to health conditions and the challenges of managing them. This will involve outpatient and inpatient assessment and therapy for families, as well as providing advice, consultation and training to the wider team. You will work effectively as part of an integrated multidisciplinary team (MDT) including medical consultants, specialist nurses, dietitians and physiotherapists, and communicate with families and the MDT in a skilled and sensitive manner.
We welcome interested applicants to contact us to discuss hours per week and to specify any preferences. Interviews are planned for the afternoon of 14 August 2025.
