Join to apply for the Senior Support Worker role at Archadeck of Nova Scotia

Are you ready for the next step in your career? Have you worked with people who have a learning disability and/or autism?

As a Senior Support Worker, you will join a friendly team who provide invaluable support in this single complex service.

You will manage staff rotas and mentor, train and coach your team. Working with the Manager you will monitor and control expenditure to ensure there are robust budget controls in place. You will ensure compliance with regulatory standards and our own processes and procedures.

You’ll be assisting with a wide range of activities from everyday living needs and ‘must dos’ (such as cooking and cleaning, shopping, baking, and general house maintenance), through to the lighter side of life becoming involved with their hobbies and interests.

David* is young, healthy, strong and physically very able. His autism and learning disabilities can lead him to become frustrated, upset or anxious. Supporting him to manage his behaviour when he is feeling anxious is a key part of the role. You will be joining an experienced team and will always be working alongside at least one other member of the MacIntyre team. The team supports him to live a life that makes sense to him, accompanying him when he's enjoying getting out and about as well as supporting him in his own home.

We provide care for him 24 hours a day so you'll take your turn working shifts on a rota, including days, evenings, weekends, and bank holidays. This role is 37.5 hours per week, usually working long days - 16 hour shifts.

About You

You will need some experience working with vulnerable people, ideally those with learning disabilities. Perhaps you have been a support worker or care worker/practitioner and are now looking to step up to a more senior role with more responsibilities and greater challenges.

You will need to be flexible and organised, with a positive approach.
