A global solar client of ours are looking for a HSE Manager for their large-scale ground mount solar farm project in the Kent area.
This will be a contract role starting ASAP and you MUST have previous experience of working in a health and safety management position on a ground mount solar farm.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Monitor existing and incoming health and safety legislation in the UK to ensure compliance across project sites
2. Develop, maintain, and continuously improve the H&S Management System in line with UK regulations, client requirements, and ISO 45001
3. Assess and analyse risks associated with the work schedule and site activities
4. Perform gap analyses and define minimum H&S certification standards for employees and subcontractors
5. Maintain certification and competence records for all site-based personnel
6. Ensure the company's health and safety policies are implemented and followed on site
7. Evaluate pre-qualification questionnaires (PQQs) from suppliers and subcontractors
8. Review and revise Construction Phase Plans and project-specific H&S documentation
9. Review RAMS submitted by internal teams, subcontractors and other stakeholders to ensure suitability
10. Conduct regular on-site H&S audits and inspections, ensuring compliance with the Construction Phase Plan and CDM obligations
11. Issue corrective and preventive actions and follow up to ensure implementation
12. Act as H&S liaison for Principal Designers, client-side H&S managers, and subcontractors
13. Lead and support investigations into all incidents, near-misses, and safety observations
14. Maintain detailed records of emergencies, incidents, and safety concerns to support continuous improvement
15. Manage and issue site-level Permits to Work (PTW), ensuring full compliance
16. Support emergency preparedness procedures and ensure the availability and suitability of emergency equipment
17. Deliver H&S inductions and training to all contractors and staff on site
18. Promote sustainable site practices, including appropriate waste disposal and reduction of environmental impact
19. Compile environmental and ESG reports relating to waste, water, fuel use, and verify relevant certifications (e.g. waste carrier licences)
20. Assist in maintaining and enhancing HSE policies and procedures in line with CDM, statutory requirements, and industry best practice
Required Certifications:
21. NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety and/ or
22. NEBOSH National Construction Certificate
23. First Aid Level 3 (Appointed Person)
