Overview
A leading Rail Consultancy is recruiting two Structural Technicians to join their expanding Geo-Technical and Site Investigation team. This is a hands-on, site-based role suited to individuals who enjoy outdoor work, problem-solving, and supporting critical ground and structural investigation activities across the UK.
You will work closely with drilling teams, geotechnical engineers, and structural inspectors to support a variety of projects across rail, highways, and greenfield environments.
Key Responsibilities
Support geotechnical and structural site investigations across the UK.
Assist with drilling operations, coring, and use of drilling rigs (training provided).
Carry out trial pitting, digging, clawing, ballast excavation, and general ground investigation work.
Help undertake structural and ground investigations to determine what is occurring behind structures, below the surface, or within track formations.
Work on railway and highway sites, as well as greenfield and brownfield environments.
Support inspection teams in accessing structures, including work on PASMA scaffolding.
Operate safely at all times, following site procedures, RAMS, and safety briefings.
Travel with team members to sites from Nottingham Business Park (van share).
Work both day and night shifts, including weekend and Saturday night shifts (10-hour shifts common).
Occasionally stay away (hotel accommodation provided) for multi-day site works.
Essential Requirements
CSCS card (minimum requirement).
Strong interest in site-based work, outdoor work, and hands-on tasks.
Willingness to work days, nights, weekends, and travel nationwide.
Full UK driving license.
Good level of physical fitness and ability to work in challenging environments.
Reliable, enthusiastic, and able to work hard to complete tasks to deadline.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
PTS (Personal Track Safety) - highly desirable due to on-track work.
Experience in site labouring, drilling, coring, or ground investigation.
Exposure to British Drilling Association (BDA) environments.
Experience within construction, rail, or highways sectors.
SSSTS certification.
PASMA experience or certification.
Previous work on geotechnical or structural investigation teams.
