Our client is currently recruiting for the position of Senior Technical Safety Engineer, based onshore in Aberdeen. This is an initial 12-month PAYE contract role but is a core position within the team and is expected to be long-term. Regular cover for the Manager/TA will be required, so they are ideally looking for a candidate with Senior/Manager/TA experience gained from an operator environment.
Responsibilities:
1. Delivery of the Technical Safety workplan
2. Day-to-day Technical Safety support to Operations (3 assets)
3. Review and implementation of New Knowledge and Information
4. Ensuring Legislative Compliance including ALARP
5. Continuous Improvement including Management System updates
6. Supporting Projects / Modifications including Technical Safety aspects for COMOPS
7. Delivering the Technical Safety workplan to support the business effectively
8. Developing and maintaining relationships with key internal stakeholders (e.g., OIMs, Asset Managers, O&M teams, D&C teams)
9. Carrying out site visits to offshore installations to liaise with offshore personnel
10. Participating in regulator inspections and technical meetings
11. Ensuring technical conformity and compliance with regulations and standards
12. Delegating for the Technical Safety Manager / Technical Authority as required
13. Representing the company on external industry bodies to stay updated on best practices and regulations
14. Managing asset Safety Cases according to Safety Case Regulations
15. Managing and delivering COMOPS notifications
16. Upkeeping QRA models and supporting major hazards assessments
17. Contributing to the MAH KPI Tool and monthly reports
18. Assessing hydrocarbon release reportability
19. Conducting risk assessments (e.g., NOPRAS, OPRA, SARA)
20. Performing formal Safety Assessments (HAZOP, HAZID, LOPA)
21. Supporting assurance of controls for MAH
22. Setting technical standards for safety and environmental systems
23. Performing major accident hazard studies
24. Updating technical safety Performance Standards
25. Conducting availability and reliability studies for safety-critical systems
26. Supporting daily operations with risk assessments and advice
27. Managing third-party consultant scopes of work
28. Applying principles of ALARP and Process Safety Management
29. Addressing in-service verification findings and audit findings
30. Supporting audit and assurance programs
31. Providing input to Engineering Management of Change processes
32. TAR support
Qualifications:
* Degree in Engineering or Science
* Chartered Engineer (desirable)
* Proven experience in MAH management and Technical Safety Engineering across asset lifecycle
* Experience in a similar role, preferably in oil and gas
* Track record of developing technical solutions
* Knowledge of technical/engineering disciplines
* Proficiency in IT systems (Excel, SAP MMS, engineering software)
* Familiarity with UK oil and gas regulations
* Experience dealing with regulators and industry groups
* Strong relationship-building skills
* Effective communication skills (written and verbal)
* Ability to meet deadlines and deliver results
* Strategic planning and implementation skills
* Risk-based decision-making ability
