About The Role

Can you help turn learning into a two-way conversation?

As a Communication Learning Support Practitioner, you will play a vital role in ensuring deaf and hearing-impaired students can fully access, engage with and thrive in their learning.

You will provide high-quality British Sign Language (BSL) support across a range of programmes and courses, helping students to communicate confidently and participate fully in college life.

In This Rewarding Role, You Will:

Deliver clear and accurate BSL signing in learning environments
Use a range of creative support strategies to adapt tasks, resources and activities
Encourage and motivate students to develop independence and confidence
Work closely with ALS tutors and teaching staff to tailor support effectively
Contribute to EHCP In-Year Reviews for students with hearing impairment
Attend and support communication in Annual Reviews
Act as an advocate for students, helping their voices be heard

Hours per week: 12.5

Weeks per year: 37

Working pattern: Each Monday plus one half day during the week

Salary per year: £7,385 (inc holiday pay)

About You

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to provide high-quality British Sign Language (BSL) support to learners with a hearing impairment who are studying on mainstream courses.

You will be a motivated and imaginative signer, qualified to a minimum of Level 3 in British Sign Language, with a genuine passion for helping students succeed. You will nurture positive attitudes to learning and play a key role in achieving the very best outcomes for our students.

In This Rewarding Role, You Will:

Provide clear and effective BSL signing support to individuals and groups
Enable learners to fully access their curriculum and college experience
Inspire confidence, independence and engagement in learning
Work closely with teaching staff and support teams to tailor support
Make a meaningful contribution to the development of teaching and learning across EKC Group
Use your understanding of Additional Learning Support to remove barriers and unlock potential

The Role May Also Include:

Supporting with personal care
Assisting with mobility
Meeting specific medical or feeding needs
