Job Description
The Highway Reinstatement Operative is a key member of the groundworks team, responsible for the high-quality reinstatement of public highways following electrical and street lighting installations. This role involves skilled work with tarmac, block paving, modular paving, and concrete to ensure the safe, compliant, and durable restoration of footpaths and roads.
Key Responsibilities:
● Perform all aspects of highway reinstatement, including tarmac laying, concrete finishing, and modular & block paving, ensuring all work meets company standards and local authority specifications.
● Adhere to and promote all Health, Safety, and Environmental requirements, including the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
● Correctly set up and maintain traffic management, including signing, lighting, and guarding, in compliance with the New Roads and Street Works Act (NRSWA) to ensure site and public safety.
● Operate and maintain a range of small plant, tools, and equipment required for reinstatement tasks.
● Ensure all work is carried out efficiently to meet project deadlines and to a high standard of quality.
● Ensure environmental compliance and follow company environmental procedures
● Complete all necessary paperwork and documentation, including site reports and risk assessments.
Qualifications
Essential:
● Proven experience in a similar role, with a strong background in tarmac, modular, concrete, and block paving reinstatement.
● Valid NRSWA Operative certification (units relevant to reinstatement).
● A full UK Driving Licence.
● CSCS card.
● Strong knowledge of health and safety procedures and regulations for working on highways.
Desirable:
● Experience with electrical street lighting and LV cable installation.
● 7.5t HGV license.
● Experience in the utilities or civil engineering sector.
