We are seeking a Procurement Coordinator to join our team.
This is a full time role, working hours are 8.30am - 4.45pm Monday to Thursday and 8.30am - 3.30pm on Fridays. There is flexibility with this working pattern.
Procurement Coordinator
Role Overview
The Procurement Coordinator will be responsible for managing the full procurement cycle — from sourcing and negotiation through to supplier performance management — ensuring materials and services are secured competitively, safely, and in line with production requirements.
This is a hands-on role within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will actively drive cost savings while ensuring materials meet required quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement & Commercial Performance
* Manage the end-to-end procurement of raw materials (steel sections, plate, fixings), consumables, and subcontract services.
* Negotiate pricing, contracts, and supply agreements to achieve best value and measurable cost reductions.
* Regularly review and benchmark suppliers to ensure competitiveness.
* Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality, safety, or delivery performance.
* Analyse spend data and report on savings and supplier performance.
Supplier & Supply Chain Management
* Build and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers.
* Monitor supplier performance (cost, quality, delivery, compliance).
* Resolve supply issues promptly to minimise disruption to production.
* Source and qualify alternative suppliers to mitigate risk.
Operational Support
* Work closely with Production & Planning to forecast material requirements.
* Ensure materials are ordered accurately and delivered on time.
* Support stock control and inventory optimisation.
* Maintain accurate purchasing records within company systems.
Health, Safety & Compliance
* Ensure all procured materials and services meet relevant safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
* Support the company's commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
* Promote safe procurement practices, including appropriate documentation, certifications, and supplier due diligence.
* Contribute to continuous improvement in safety and compliance processes.
Skills & Experience Required
* Experience in a procurement, buying, or supply chain role (manufacturing environment preferred).
* Experience within steel fabrication, construction materials, engineering, or heavy industry is desirable.
* CIPS qualification or working towards is desirable
* Strong negotiation and commercial awareness.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
* Proficient in Microsoft Excel and procurement/ERP systems.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally.
