Job Title: Mobile Commercial Gas Engineer Location: Central & Greater London (within the M25) Job Type: Permanent Hours: 8:00am – 5:00pm Salary: £48,000 – £55,000 Overtime: Time and a half or double time £150 standby allowance Call-Out Rota: 1 in 7 weeks Reporting to: Operations Manager Overview Valoris Group is looking for a skilled Mobile Building Services Engineer with a strong commercial gas bias to join a well-established building services provider. This is a key role within the service delivery and operations team, responsible for maintaining, fault-finding, and improving mechanical and gas systems across multiple commercial sites throughout London and the Home Counties. This mobile position requires flexibility and a proactive approach, including occasional work outside standard hours to support essential services. Role Responsibilities Lead gas and mechanical maintenance, fault diagnosis, and compliance across commercial sites Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive works on boilers, plant rooms, and associated equipment Attend multiple sites as directed to meet operational requirements Respond promptly and safely to breakdowns and emergency callouts Maintain accurate documentation, including service reports and gas safety records Provide clear on-site technical updates and recommendations Follow and promote all health and safety and gas compliance standards Continue developing technical skills and knowledge of new technologies Key Tasks Planned, reactive, and statutory maintenance on commercial boilers, heating systems, pumps, valves, and plant equipment Fault finding, isolation, and repair of gas and mechanical systems Testing, purging, and commissioning in line with Gas Safe regulations Support installation works, upgrades, and plant refurbishments Complete service and safety certification accurately and on time Provide basic multi-skilled support across electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems where required Attend and resolve gas or mechanical emergencies across sites Benefits Competitive salary based on qualifications and experience Overtime at enhanced rates plus standby allowance 25 days annual leave plus 8 bank holidays Salary protection through sickness and accident cover Life assurance (2x annual salary) Health & Wellbeing Access to a private GP service Confidential Employee Assistance Programme (24/7 support) Annual eye care reimbursement Training & Development Access to a structured training academy and mentoring support Ongoing opportunities to enhance technical skills and qualifications Equipment Provided Company van and fuel card Uniform and safety equipment Phone and tablet Parking apps and company debit card Candidate Requirements: Essential Experience Proven experience in commercial gas maintenance and HVAC plant environments Strong fault-finding, repair, and commissioning experience on commercial gas systems Experience delivering both PPM and reactive maintenance Ability to work independently across multiple sites Essential Qualifications Commercial Gas certifications (COCN1, CODNCO1, CIGA1, CORT1, ICPN1, TPCP1A or equivalent) NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent practical experience Full UK driving licence Right to work in the UK Desirable Qualifications Domestic gas qualification (CCN1) F-Gas or general HVAC awareness Electrical qualification (18th Edition or similar) IPAF and/or PASMA Skills & Abilities Strong diagnostic and problem-solving capability Ability to read mechanical drawings and plant schematics Good communication and reporting skills IT literate and confident using mobile devices and job management systems Able to work both independently and as part of a team Personal Attributes Reliable and committed to high-quality workmanship Flexible and adaptable to changing work demands Professional and customer-focused approach Strong team player with a collaborative mindset Physical Requirements Physically fit and able to lift equipment Comfortable working at height and in confined spaces Willing to travel across multiple locations and participate in an on-call rota Health & Safety Strong understanding of gas safety regulations and compliance standards Commitment to safe working practices Proactive in identifying hazards and managing risks Note: Applicants must be based in the UK and authorised to work.
