Job Title: Manufacturing Engineering Manager

Location: UK - Loughborough - Bishop Meadow Road

How will you make an impact?

Lead all aspects of engineering and maintenance at the Loughborough facility, ensuring safe, reliable site equipment and infrastructure at minimum cost. Collaborate with key partners to drive strategic CapEx and improvement initiatives and support the continual improvement program using Practical Process Improvement (PPI). Manage the day-to-day Permit to Work (PTW) system, budget, root cause analysis, spare parts, and document control. Build a high-performance engineering team through engagement, collaboration, and development.


Responsibilities

* Translate site vision and strategy into a clear, actionable Engineering roadmap with defined goals and execution plans.
* Represent the site with HSE and other compliance authorities on Engineering matters.
* Ensure departmental activities align with company standards for quality, EHS, external legislation, duty of care, and industry regulations.
* Lead, empower, mentor, and engage the Engineering team to improve uptime and operational performance.
* Develop and implement formal Engineering policies, standardized processes, and control mechanisms.
* Ensure regulatory compliance across regional operations; identify risks and deliver mitigation plans.
* Manage maintenance of current plant, equipment, and site services; collaborate with the Production Operations Manager on upgrades.
* Mentor maintenance teams in detailed failure investigations, RCCM countermeasures, and proactive problem-solving culture.
* Support Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) matters, including compliance manual management as needed.
* Recruit, train, and develop an capable Engineering team in line with company policies and HR processes.
* Monitor, analyse, and report departmental activities and key metrics to Site Leadership.
* Manage departmental budgets, including AOPs and capital expenditures.
* Uphold company values: Integrity, Intensity, Innovation, and Involvement; follow the Dignity at Work Policy and Code of Conduct.
* Measure maintenance performance using metrics such as MTBF, MTTR, and RCCM effectiveness.


Qualifications

Preferred Hiring Criteria

* Degree or equivalent in a science/engineering subject with proven team leadership.
* Experience in a production facility, with at least 5 years in an Engineering leadership role, ideally in a COMAH-compliant solvent distillation or chemical batch environment.
* Skills in equipment installation, maintenance, reliability, and knowledge of UK regulations and industry guidelines.
* Experience in a structured corporate environment with adherence to protocols and compliance frameworks.
* Strong personnel management with knowledge of HR policies and employee relations.
* Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills to engage collaborators at all levels.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

* Extensive knowledge of equipment installation and maintenance in a complex, multi-disciplinary environment.
* Solid understanding of COMAH regulations for lower-tier sites.
* Experience in project management and risk management from planning to post-implementation review.
* Knowledge of hazardous area classification and protection methods (e.g., ATEX, DSEAR).
* Familiarity with fire protection systems in high-risk environments.
* Experience with equipment validation/verification processes for regulatory and operational compliance.
* Practical understanding of lean maintenance, preventive and predictive maintenance, and asset management.
