About The Role As our Communications & PR Manager, you will oversee the design and delivery of a multi-channel communications and public relations strategy aligned with our sustainability goals. You will lead campaigns, manage digital platforms, and ensure consistent and impactful messaging across all channels. You’ll work closely with internal teams, borough communications leads, contractors, and external agencies to shape how WLWA is perceived by the public, partners, and policymakers. What You’ll Be Doing Lead the development and implementation of WLWA’s communication and PR strategy Manage communications projects across internal teams and six boroughs Develop compelling messaging around circular economy, financial risk, and carbon reduction Oversee the Authority’s website, brand, and digital engagement platforms Manage media relations and support senior leaders with speech and briefing materials Coordinate external contractors, including PR agencies and marketing partners Monitor communication budgets and report on campaign performance using data insights Promote and maintain consistency across all WLWA communications and branding Who This Role Is For This role is ideal for a proactive and strategic communicator with a passion for sustainability and public engagement. This Role Could Be a Great Fit If You Have Experience In: Local Government or Public Sector Communications – You’ve managed strategic messaging, resident engagement, or sustainability campaigns for a council, agency, or public body. Environmental or Sustainability Communications – You’ve worked with organisations tackling climate change, carbon reduction, waste management, or circular economy issues. Charity, Social Enterprise, or NGO Campaigning – You’ve led public engagement or advocacy campaigns with a focus on community impact or social value. PR or Marketing Agencies – You’ve delivered multi-channel campaigns for mission-driven clients or managed accounts in sustainability, infrastructure, or civic engagement. Corporate Communications – Especially if you’ve worked in ESG, CSR, or internal sustainability communications within large organisations. Freelance Communications or Content Creation – You’ve built communication strategies or content for public, nonprofit, or sustainability-focused clients.
