About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Engineer to join our dynamic team at Proptech, a leading aerospace propeller maintenance and overhaul facility. This critical role ensures we consistently meet and exceed customer expectations for workmanship quality, cost-effectiveness, and turnaround times through systematic quality management and continuous improvement initiatives.
Working collaboratively with our workshop teams, you'll proactively identify, investigate, and resolve quality issues while supporting the implementation of new processes that drive operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Assurance & Auditing
* Develop comprehensive audit schedules aligned with regulatory requirements and internal standards
* Create detailed audit checklists specific to propeller maintenance processes
* Conduct thorough internal process and product audits
* Execute Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations and issue formal findings
* Support implementation of corrective actions and manage audit close-out procedures
* Ensure compliance with aerospace quality standards (AS9100, CAA, EASA and FAA regulations)
Process Improvement & Optimization
* Apply 8D methodology and Process Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (PFMEA) to identify turnaround time (TAT) improvements
* Implement 5S and Lean Six Sigma (LSS) methodologies to enhance workshop efficiency
* Lead cross-functional improvement initiatives and support rollout of process enhancements
* Monitor key performance indicators and quality metrics
New Process Development
* Collaborate with engineering teams on development and validation of new maintenance processes
* Create comprehensive Work Instructions, Control Plans, and Process Flow Diagrams
* Conduct process verification activities and deliver First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR)
* Ensure new processes meet regulatory and customer requirements
Product Release & Documentation
* Support final inspection of completed propellers and maintenance processes
* Generate and issue release documentation, certificates of conformity, and test reports
* Support regulatory compliance, supplier quality assessments, and customer quality initiatives
* Maintain accurate quality records and documentation systems
Required Qualifications
Essential
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or related technical field experience
* 3+ years of quality engineering experience in aerospace manufacturing or MRO environment
* Strong knowledge of aerospace quality standards (AS9100, FAA Part 145 preferred)
* Experience with quality tools: 8D, PFMEA, FMEA, SPC, MSA
* Proficiency in Lean Six Sigma methodologies
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
* Strong written and verbal communication abilities
* Valid UK driving license
Preferred
* Aircraft maintenance or propeller overhaul experience
* Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification
* Experience with aerospace ERP/quality management systems
* Knowledge of propeller-specific regulations and standards
* Internal auditor certification (AS9100 or ISO 9001)
