Job Description
We are seeking qualified Electricians with knowledge of relevant health and safety regulations, Codes of Practice, and guidance, as well as experience in electrical procedures in both domestic and commercial environments, to join our Property Maintenance team across the City of Sunderland. The role involves carrying out domestic EICR testing and delivering excellent service to our customers.
Key responsibilities
* Carry out domestic EICR testing on Gentoo domestic and non‑domestic properties.
* Support teams to carry out repairs, maintenance and installation as required.
* Complete all necessary electronic certification in line with relevant British Standards and regulatory bodies.
* Ensure all work meets the minimum standards set by the current edition of the IET Wiring Regulations (currently 18th edition) and Gentoo Group.
* Carry out all works in an efficient, timely manner.
* Liaise with Line Managers regarding the status of all work.
* Participate in the Group’s Emergency Out of Hours Service on a rota basis when required.
Requirements
* Full UK driver’s licence.
* Proven ability to carry out domestic EICR testing in accordance with BS 7671:2018 and relevant amendments.
* City and Guilds 2391 or equivalent Inspection and Testing Certificate (or willingness to obtain it within an agreed timescale).
* Demonstrable ability to carry out electrical installations, repairs, and maintenance in accordance with relevant specifications and regulatory bodies.
* Completion of a recognised (Indentured) Electrical apprenticeship with City & Guilds 2361 part 1 & 2 or equivalent NVQ Level 3.
* Competence in current edition of IET Wiring Regulations/BS7671 and all ongoing revisions.
* Experience in inspection, testing and certification.
* Knowledge of relevant Health & Safety Regulations.
* Ability to carry out minor building and plumbing works associated with electrical works (e.g., minor plaster patching, making good, connecting water supplies to showers).
* Flexible approach to meet the demands of the role.
* Competence in handheld IT systems.
* Logical approach to fault‑finding and problem‑solving.
Additional Information
The position offers a standard 36‑hour Mon – Fri working week with occasional overtime as required. Training and development opportunities are available. The role is subject to a basic DBS arranged and funded by Gentoo.
