Job Description
This is a client-side opportunity working within the Construction Projects team for a significant Data Centre owner/operator. With multiple sites and more coming online, this is a busy role where you will be project managing various building services schemes across the portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
* Hold others accountable and manage stakeholder relationships.
* Drive efficiencies in the program.
* Deliver under pressure and seek opportunities for improvement.
* Manage contractors and consultants with a strong MEP background.
* Communicate effectively with client-side operations teams to optimize performance.
* Maintain SLA availability in live data centre environments, meeting Tier 3 requirements.
* Develop and follow audit trails, work to processes, and make methodical decisions.
* Report blockers, issues, next steps, and track weekly progress.
* Be solution-oriented, adaptable, and safety-conscious.
* Represent the client and manage risk effectively.
* Trace impacts on cost and time, and identify opportunities for improvement.
* Utilize SharePoint on-site and review drawings/plans.
* Understand the importance of temporary works and develop plans accordingly.
All work involves BMS, Electrical, or Mechanical (cooling) disciplines; hence, both technical services experience and live site data centre experience are essential. The Project Manager will oversee all disciplines, identify areas for improvement, and act on data from the team and other organizations.
This role requires both independent contribution and teamwork within multi-disciplinary groups and internal units.
Responsibilities include:
* Project oversight and review of electrical, mechanical, controls, and architectural systems.
* Identify opportunities for system improvements based on data analysis.
* Manage project scope, timeline, and budget.
* Provide project management for initiatives enhancing data centre resiliency.
* Review construction and retrofit packages.
* Create project scope, RFPs, and capital requests.
* Ensure project quality, including commissioning and oversight.
* Report key metrics to management.
* Support operations by reviewing procedures and maintenance initiatives.
* Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis for equipment or electrical failures.
* Coordinate with contractors and vendors for efficient project turnovers.
* Act as a leader within the team and external partners.
The candidate should understand drawings related to MEP and civils/arch, identify gaps, and find opportunities to expedite work. This is a long-term opportunity in a thriving industry. The role is outside IR35, and candidates must be UK-based and willing to conduct site visits as needed.
Please note that your main expertise must be in M&E (Building Services). This is not a general or IT project management position. For further details, contact Trevor Parsons at Eden Brown, an equal opportunity employer.
