Tower Hamlets is one of the capital’s most diverse boroughs and home to the Tower of London, Canary Wharf, historic riverfront at Wapping and vibrant places like Brick Lane, Shoreditch, and Whitechapel - all in just eight square miles. We have just moved into our fantastic brand-new offices in Whitechapel (The old Royal London Hospital)
We have one of the fastest growing populations along with being the most densely populated in the UK with more homes being built here than almost anywhere else.
Our economy has the third largest output in the UK with, employees working for 16, businesses.
The Council is a place of rapid change with the highest rates of housing growth in the country and has in recent years had amongst the highest levels of business growth and the highest levels of deprivation nationwide. We embrace the responsibilities that come with a borough of our size, population, geography, and profile. We are a council where people make things happen.
This mix of old and new, combined with award winning parks, international cultural destinations, world class learning institutions in the UK, makes Tower Hamlets one of the most popular places to live, work, study and visit.
Tower Hamlets is looking for a an enthusiastic candidate to assist in the delivery of a new parking scheme which will enable Council housing residents to park on their estates. The successful applicant will be able to communicate sensitively with residents when implementing the Council’s proposals to enforce off street parking as well as ensure the effective administration of the project. This post will also involve attending meetings and re-assuring residents with regards to the impact of the scheme as well as dealing with vulnerable residents who may need re-assurance about what the project means to them.
This will be a challenging but rewarding position at the heart of the council that might suit a motivated individual with experience in housing, parking or another related public service. Essential to this post is the applicants ability to demonstrate the interpersonal skills required to deal with the many issues raised by our tenants and leaseholders. In return, they will gain valuable experience of managing a project that involves a substantial engagement with residents.
Tower Hamlets vision for our borough is that: people are aspirational, independent and have equal access to opportunities; we are a borough that our residents are proud of and love to live in; and we are a dynamic, outcomes-based council using digital innovation and partnership working to respond to the changing needs of our borough. We want people who aspire to our TOWER values: Together; Open; Willing; Excellent; Respect.
